British woman identified after body discovered in Athens suitcase

Greek police have identified a British woman whose body was found inside a suitcase in Athens on 18 July. She was 38 years old and has been named as Elisabeth-Jane Ross. Her body was discovered in an empty building in the Kypseli area of the city.

Greek authorities could not identify her using local records, so they contacted Interpol. Fingerprint analysis and information from US law enforcement confirmed who she was. Ross had travelled from the United States to Cyprus and then arrived in Greece on 29 June.

Police are still investigating how she died. The UK Foreign Office has said it is supporting her family. Clothing found near the body included shorts with a French university name printed on them.
