Britain helps Ukraine develop domestic long-range missile production

Britain has promised to help Ukraine build its own long-range missiles, including sharing secret technical information about Scalp missile parts. Andy Burnham visited Kyiv on 24 August 2026 and announced the increased support. With this information, Ukraine can assemble advanced missiles at home instead of waiting for deliveries from abroad. Ukraine is also expanding its production of ballistic missiles and drones. Ukrainian drone attacks have already hit Russian oil facilities, warehouses, and airfields. Making weapons domestically means Ukraine does not need permission from allies before using them. Previously, Ukraine had to wait for Western approval to strike certain targets. Russia responded by withdrawing its ambassador to Britain.
