Billionaire investor Leon Black sues to block congressional Epstein subpoenas

Billionaire investor Leon Black has sued a congressional committee rather than answer questions under oath. Black was ordered twice to appear before the House Oversight Committee, which is looking into the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein. He did not show up on Thursday.

Black's legal team argues that the committee has gone beyond its authority. They say the subpoenas have no real connection to making new laws. The committee also asked Black to hand over private agreements he had signed, which he refused to do in June when he walked out of an earlier session.

Black employed Epstein as a financial adviser and had close personal ties to him. Representative Robert Garcia has called for Black to be charged with contempt of Congress.
