BBC broadcaster dies from injuries sustained in north London car crash

Jenni Murray, a BBC broadcaster aged 75, has died after a car crash in north London. She died eight days after the accident, on 12 March. A coroner's inquest found that she developed bronchopneumonia, a serious lung infection, because of broken bones in her chest. The broken bones were a rib and her sternum, which is the flat bone in the centre of the chest. North London coroner Tony Murphy led the inquest. It also heard that the car's anti-lock braking system may have made it harder to stop the vehicle before the crash. Murray worked for the BBC for many years and was well known to listeners across the country.
