Assault charges withdrawn against Bondi shooting hero Ahmed al-Ahmed

Prosecutors in Sydney have dropped all charges against Ahmed al-Ahmed, a man praised for his bravery during a deadly attack in December 2025. On Wednesday, a court in Bankstown withdrew two charges against him. He had been accused of putting his father in a headlock in March and of stalking and intimidating him later. Al-Ahmed pleaded not guilty to both charges in June. His lawyer said the case had been hard for his client and called it an unexpected family situation. A domestic violence order protecting his father will stay in place for 12 months. Al-Ahmed became known worldwide after he helped stop a gunman at a Hanukkah event on Bondi Beach, where 15 people were killed.
