Apple releases first foldable iPhone priced at $1,999

Apple has launched its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, at an event in California on September 9, 2026. The phone folds shut to roughly the size of a passport. When open, it shows two screens, so users can run several apps at the same time. New CEO John Ternus presented the device. Apple designed it mainly for work tasks like video calls and managing multiple windows. The starting price is $1,999, which is higher than most smartphones. Storage goes up to 2 terabytes. Customers can preorder from October 16, and the phone will go on sale on October 23. Rivals such as Samsung and Google have sold foldable phones since 2019, but this is Apple's first.
