Antonelli wins Canadian Grand Prix as Russell retires from lead

Kimi Antonelli won the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal on Sunday, his fourth victory in a row. The 19-year-old Italian drove well in difficult conditions that changed from wet to dry during the race. His Mercedes teammate George Russell had been leading when his car broke down on lap 30 with a power unit failure.

The two drivers had already clashed earlier in the race. Antonelli tried to overtake Russell at the start, went onto the grass, and accused Russell of pushing him off the track. Antonelli asked his team by radio to give Russell a penalty. Team boss Toto Wolff later criticised Antonelli for talking publicly about problems between teammates.

Antonelli now leads Russell by 43 points in the drivers' championship.
