Anthropic commits $35 billion to cloud capacity from Lambda

Anthropic has reportedly agreed to pay $35 billion for cloud computing capacity from Lambda, a provider backed by chip-maker Nvidia. Reuters and the Wall Street Journal reported the deal, but neither company has confirmed it publicly.

The computing capacity will come from a large data center in Texas. Hut 8, a company that previously mined bitcoin, is building the site. Nvidia is connected to the arrangement in several ways. It has invested in Lambda, supplies the chips used there, and holds a separate lease at the same location.

This is Anthropic's second major deal this week. Days earlier, it agreed to a $45 billion arrangement with another provider called Nscale. Anthropic has also signed similar large deals with Fluidstack and SpaceX in recent months.
