Americans express opposition to Trump tariffs on Canadian goods

Most Americans do not support the trade tariffs their president has placed on Canadian goods, a new survey shows. The poll, taken on July 22, questioned 9,695 Americans about 50 percent tariffs on most Canadian products. Nearly half, 49 percent, strongly disapproved, and a further 11 percent somewhat disapproved. Only 25 percent approved in some way, while 15 percent were unsure. Some people said they opposed the tariffs because they have family or friends in Canada. Separate polls found that majorities in both countries are unhappy with the trade dispute. Canada has already responded by removing some American products, including alcohol, from its shops.
