Amazon Prime Video releases Elle prequel series about teenage Elle Woods

Amazon Prime Video announced a new television series called Elle in May 2024, set to premiere on 1 July 2026. The show is a prequel to the popular Legally Blonde films and follows Elle Woods as a teenager in 1995, roughly six years before the events of the original movie. Lexi Minetree plays the young Elle, a role made famous by Reese Witherspoon in the films. Witherspoon remains involved as an executive producer through her company Hello Sunshine. The story takes Elle from Los Angeles to Seattle, where she navigates a new school during the grunge era. Filming began in April 2025, and before the show had even aired, Amazon confirmed a second season in January 2026.
