Air Force secretary confirms United States has deployed space weapons

Air Force Secretary Troy Meink said on September 14 that the United States has placed weapons in space. He spoke at a military conference in Maryland. This is the first time a U.S. official has publicly confirmed that America has space weapons. Meink said the weapons can protect U.S. and allied forces from enemy attacks. He gave no details about what the weapons are or how they work. The Air Force also refused to say more. The announcement follows years of U.S. warnings about China and Russia using lasers and signal-blocking technology against American satellites. Meink also said the Space Force will launch satellites to track targets in the air. A missile-defence system called Golden Dome has reached a hardware-ready stage.
