Activist charged after knife used on migrant boat in Channel

A far-right activist slashed an inflatable boat carrying migrants in the English Channel on Tuesday. Daniel Thomas, 37, used a knife to cut the dinghy while a French rescue worker was on board. He filmed the attack and shared it live on social media. The boat was carrying migrants trying to reach the UK from France. Thomas, who leads a group called Patriot Platform, was arrested and later charged with criminal damage and refusing to give police his phone PIN. Around 50 migrants from the boat were brought to Dover. Hundreds of supporters had gathered at a marina near Portsmouth during the incident. Three people at the demonstration were charged with attacking an emergency worker.
