13-year-old girl found dead after five-day search in Victoria

Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 13-year-old girl from Victoria, Australia. Layla Jeffery left her home at around 4am on 4 July. She left a light on, which suggested she planned to come back. Her body was found five days later in bushland near the town of Donald, northwest of Melbourne. Before she left, her aunt Kaitlyn Cheyne had sent her messages on TikTok about two hours earlier. Layla's family say they cannot understand what happened to her. They have described her as a kind and generous person. As one example, she would buy two of the same item so her best friend could have one too.
